Toys?
We don't need no stinkin' toys. Mitchell has 2 bins full of fabulous blocks, stacky things, noise makers, & blinking lights, but what does he REALLY want to play with? The kitchen cabinets and their many many contents. He has just recently gotten VERY good at unscrewing any cap, no matter how tight you thought you put it on. He is iron man. His shining moment? When he got a hold of the chocolate ice cream topping. Oh Yeah, our boy knew it was good stuff.....

Oh What Fun....
it is to tile, and tile and tile away, HEY!!
Our goal is to be in our place by Christmas, so while others are out frolicking in the shopping malls and Hobnobbing at parties, we work and work and work! Marc is now tiling the Kitchen floor and it is looking Fabulous! But no peeking (pictures) until Christmas! Well, maybe we will have some pics up before then, but not tonight.....
I do have to say it has been fun to expend my nesting instincts by cutting tile...

New Carpet....
Here is the before..... (it really didn't look too bad, but it was old, old, old, and an ugly brown)
And here is Mitchell enjoying his new closet- after! (he was rolling around on it!)

We still need to put the baseboard trim down, then it is all done!! We went back to the grandparent's house and celebrated with a cup of coffee!

Our New Bathroom!
Brace yourselves, for what you are about to see is not for the faint of heart... We now have occupancy of our side of our new house- a duplex where we rent one side and live in the other. So we go in knowing we will be doing a little remodeling.... BUT CHECK OUT THIS BATHTUB!!! Can you imagine bathing in this?!?!

Just so you know at the time of this post the bathroom is completely gutted (I will post pics shortly) and believe it or not, the tub was salvageable! You will see it in its restored glory soon. Marc has been working like a mad man to get it done before Thanksgiving and plans to install the tile floor tonight.... Stay tuned for some more before and after pictures!

My Latest Obsession...
So I started to check into baby wearing since I want to be able to carry the kids around with the option of being hands free, and they are handy for feedings too! After a lot of research, I decided to experiment and make my own ring sling and wrap, and had so much fun! Pictures will soon follow so if you don't know what I am talking about, they will explain a lot. :) I have already had someone ask me about making the ring slings.... thinking about it....
I think I just like creating things; whether it is music or a piece of handy material to carry your little bebe around in...
or decorating a birthday cake with obnoxiously sweet icing...
or using the hedge trimmers to tame a wild barberry bush...
(I could NOT believe how fun that was!)

It's a Birthday!
Mitchell turned 1 on August 30th, and we celebrated in style on September 1st! It was a fabulous bash and a good time was had by all.
And the Birthday Prince (below)
His MiMi calls him "The Prince" so I just had to :)

What's the Deal?
I know, I know! In the first blog I bragged about how I talk too much and that this blog could be a dangerous thing (in a wordy onslaught of random ramblings kind of way) and it has been almost 3 months since I have posted! What can I say? It was a busy but wonderful summer! :)
Our Ohio house closed the end of July after a crazy month of taking loads of stuff to IL and cramming in a roadtrip to FL by way of LA (Louisiana, not Hollywood!) for vacation. We had a wonderful time, and pictures will be here shortly- as soon as I can find my elusive USB cable so I can get the pics off of my camera! I know I can probably get another one, but I am just too lazy. And cheap. Can't forget that one.
Anyway, we are settling into IL life quite nicely and love being near family. We have traveled the 1.5 hours it takes to see Marc's parents almost weekly since we have been here, and they LOVE it! My p's are in heaven with Mitchell here at their house, and my brother and fam are just a quick trip across town away! Oh, and we are closing on our first property in late September- woohoo!
Marc starts school on Tuesday (the day after Labor Day) and me? Well, I am just Pampered Chefin' my little heart out as I debate whether or not to get music lessons going before or after baby comes?!? (due date Feb 8, and no, we don't know the sex yet- I am at week 18 and we have to wait until 20)
Mitchell, the little joy just turned 1 on Aug 30 and we had a big birthday bash for him today (technically yesterday) Again, pics to follow once I find that cable! He tries to say "clock" and today told Poppie (my dad) that the doggie says "woof woof"! They went for a pre party walk in the stroller and he was apparently communicating with our neighborhood k-9 friends. Not walking yet, but that's okay! as his MiMi (my grandma- we don't use traditional names in this family!) says "he's gonna walk the rest of his life!"
Thats all for now- hopefully if you have made it this far in the entry you feel it was worth the 3 month wait. And you will also be convinced that yes, I do talk too much. Or at least a lot.
"I Sleep Now"
(anyone think they can name the movie that quote came from? It's a tough one!!)

BTW- anyone have any suggestions for a new blog name? we aren't 3 anymore....

DTV CRIBS- "The Mitchell Mansion"
Hi Everyone. My names Mitchell. Welcome to my Crib. This here's my playspot, otherwise known as "The Mitchell Mansion". I don't really like my pack n play- too small, cramps my style, you know... so Daddy came up with a new set up and i really like it and all. got the couch cushions against the fireplace so i don't have to fall in there if i lose my balance and stuff. Got the ottoman on this side and the pack n play on that.... oh yeah, and Mommy put her piano in there from when she was a kid and i'm always like picking out tunes on it.... she also gave me an old book of some chord charts so i've been working on those a little. mostly working on spreading them all over the floor. the ottoman too. great workspace......
a guy's got to have room to work, you know.
A timeline at last
We will be officially leaving Cinci on Sunday July 1st! Marc is in the final stages of negotiating a contract with a teaching job he is super excited about, which will give him a week or two to relax before he hits the textbooks to start preparing those lesson plans for fall. Once our Ohio house is sold or rented, we plan to buy a duplex and start our career as landlords. We are ready for our adventure!
A Florida vacation with my side of the fam awaits us in mid July- we are road tripping down to enjoy a little sun, surf, and relaxation. We have never been on vacation together (except when we went to the cabins for Thanksgiving) so it will be an awesome time!
I plan to start advertising for my piano classes once we return from our getaway, hopefully things will pick up quickly with that so i can truly enjoy being home with Mitchell.......
Your prayers are coveted as we work through these trasitions- good times are ahead!!

Holy Blogspots, Batman!
Here it is, our official blogspot! This could be dangerous... (as much as i talk!)
We established this site so we could keep anyone who happens to be interested updated on our life and times as we move from Ohio to Illinois. We are looking forward to being with our family, but will miss our Ohio "family" so very much- so many of you have touched our lives and we are so thankful to have been a part of yours... Hopefully this will be an easy way for you (as well as our other friends in various non-Illinois places :) to keep up with us and to watch Mitchell grow. We would love to hear from you too!!
Much love,
The Deem 3
